Program for Training & Capacity Building
There is a shortage of mental health professionals in Iraq and Syria. In order to better respond to the complex needs of those affected, we invest in the regular training of local specialists and staff.
Training and Supervision for Healthcare Professionals
The Jiyan Foundation systematically trains local psychologists and social workers while providing regular supervision. This way we can guarantee that our employees acquire important knowledge in various areas which are crucial to our work. These training areas include, but are not limited to:
- Trauma therapy
- Child and adolescent psychotherapy
- Art therapy
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
- Supervision
- Social work
Our training usually takes about two years to complete and empowers the participants to treat very difficult cases. Together with partner organizations, we draw on an international trainer pool, which supports the sustainable professional development of psychotherapists in the region.
Educating our Community
Our trained teams offer seminars and consultations for healthcare professionals, teachers, educators, and social workers in public institutions such as women’s shelters and orphanages
