Details of Tax Allowances

After reviewing the last tax return of the association for the years 2015 to 2017, the association is recognized by the tax office for corporations I Berlin as a non-profit organization and is exempt from corporation tax as well as trade tax. According to the current notice of exemption, the association can issue donation receipts for donations until 26 March 2024.

Financial Information

In 2018, the association received a total of 308,434.37 Euro from private and corporate donations, via the Betterplace donation platform, as well as from church communities and from the Amazon Smile programme. A further 827.88 Euro were collected by the campaign hoffnung – Hilfe für die Mission GmbH. The association also received prize money of 7,500 Euro from the Hamburg Initiative for Human Rights.

Beyond this, the association did not receive any other income.

Information on the Use of Funds

The expenses of the association amounted to a total of 154,321.36 Euro in 2018. The costs are broken down as follows:

Administration: 1.359,42 Euro
Fundraising: 12.745,08 Euro
Travel Expenses: 9.395,23 Euro
Project Expenditure: 130.821,63 Euro

The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights e.V. is an independent association based in Berlin. Furthermore, it is the sole shareholder of the Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights gGmbH and is affiliated with the Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights, which is based in Iraq and registered there.

In recent years, the German association has not received any donations from individuals, which together accounted for more than 10% of the annual budget.
